We’ve delivered workshops for professionals from a range of sectors, both online in person. This includes to the Care Inspectorate, at the Children’s Health Scotland My Health My Rights Conference, and at the Children in Scotland Annual Conference. We pride ourselves on making these workshops engaging and accessible, and always ensure that participants leave with tangible next steps and actions based on what they’ve learnt. Every workshop is facilitated by skilled LUNA volunteers who bring a wealth of lived experience to each slide and conversation point.
The workshops we currently run for professionals are listed below. Please note that we are very happy to discuss creating bespoke workshops for specific organisations if you get in touch.
- Disability 101: this workshop explores the different aspects of disability, including the language surrounding disability, disability pride, and the social and medical models. It’s a great introduction for people who are looking to learn more about disability, and will leave you with a strong foundational understanding
- We Are Whole People: building on a general understanding of disability, this workshop explores the experiences of individual disabled young people. It focuses on the challenges young people face in a system that requires professionals to take a specialised focus, and the opportunities to improve these experiences by seeing the disabled young people you work with as whole people
- Engaging Young People: this workshop explores the importance of meaningfully engaging young people within organisations like hospitals and youth organisations. It examines what meaningful engagement looks like and gives you the confidence and tools to engage the young people you work with and empower them to be heard
