Meet The Team

Some words might want to go here!

Trustees

Abbie Johnston

Abbie Johnston

Hi, I’m Abbie. I’m one of the trustees and the co-lead of Education team. I’m studying Speech and Language Therapy at Newcastle University. Outside of LUNA, I love reading, playing wheelchair basketball, crocheting and cats. LUNA means a lot to me, I joined at a time when I was far from confident in my disabled identity and now I’m doing things I could only imagine.

Ally Lloyd

Ally Lloyd

I’m Ally! I’m one of the LUNA co-founders/trustees. For me LUNA is a chance to empower young people with Disabilities to talk about their experiences, and make the world a less lonely place for chronically ill young people. Outside of LUNA I like messy creative things and taking photos.

Beth Dillion

Beth Dillon (she/her)

Hi I’m Beth, one of the LUNA Project trustees and co-founders. I have just started working as a doctor in the West of Scotland. In my spare time I love being outside, reading, painting and climbing. The LUNA Project means a lot to me: growing up with a chronic health condition and disability presents challenges but strong friendships and understanding from your peers help to make things so much easier.

Ross Tanner

Ross Tanner (he/they)

I’m Ross, one of the LUNA trustees/co-founders. I also love painting and drawing in my spare time.

Sophie Mattholie

Sophie Mattholie (she/her)

Hi! I’m Sophie I am one of the trustees, and I study History at the University of York. Besides studying I love reading, writing (including a blog about my chronic illness) and volunteering in archives. Being involved with LUNA has given me such a wide range of opportunities – from writing blog posts, to being a member of the Media Team to creating Science Communication resources and everything in between – and a way to raise awareness for disability in wider society.

Professional Advisors

Ines Alves (she/her) Ines is a lecturer in Inclusive Education at the University of Glasgow. She is one of the LUNA professional advisors. She is a fountain of knowledge about all things education, and the speediest writer of research proposals we know! When she is not thinking about all things inclusive education she enjoys running.

Jessica Mulholland – I’m Jessica, I came to LUNA as a professional advisor, after acquiring a disability and being very much in need of disabled joy! I recently left the NHS and am now working in a homeless charity. Outside of this I read obsessively, love aqua aerobics and zumba and have recently acquired a second cat!

Media Team

Christy Burdett – Hi I’m Christy and I’m LUNA’s admin assistant! I started as a supporter for the charity as my friends are a part of the media team and my passion for what LUNA does/stands for meant that I quickly found myself volunteering and I love it! All of my close friends are disabled and I have seen the continuous positive impact that LUNA has on people, and I am a firm believer this charity will change the world with friendship at its core. Outside of LUNA I love cooking for my friends and family and watching true crime.

Hannah Frost (She/They) – I’m Hannah, a Law Graduate with a postgraduate diploma in Law and masters in Business Management. I’m part of LUNA’s media team and enjoy being able to create resources and raise awareness for disability. When I’m not volunteering with LUNA you can find me volunteering for Migraine World Summit, reading and writing a blog about chronic illness and disability.

Kieran Mehta (he/him) – Hiya, I’m Kieren (he/him, 22) & I’m an Astrophysics student at the University of Glasgow, graduating in ’23. I’ve been with LUNA since the start — in the sense that I’ve known our fab founders since 2018 — but I’ve been on the LUNA media team since 2022. I really enjoy cycling, climbing, writing & illustration but all of those have become harder since having a chronic illness; I was struggling with being ill but LUNA has been such a fantastic community to be a part of, and I am so thankful for it & the work I get to do.

Kirsten Lloyd (she/her) – Hi, I’m Kirsten. I am a third year medical student at the university of Leeds and love being a part of the LUNA’s media team. Outside of studying I love horses, running and going on walks with the dogs!

Education Team

Hannah L – Hi, I’m Hannah and I’m the co-chair of LUNA’s education committee. When I’m not working on projects with LUNA you can find me writing stories about disabled characters, playing dungeons and dragons, and making cosplays.

Aaron Dekka – I am a student waiting for my oral exams. In my leisure time mountain climbing is a go to. An advocate for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity in learning institutions.

Amber Daw (she/her) – Hi, I’m Amber, LUNA’s Media and Inclusion Trustee. I’ve been a part of Team LUNA since January 2021 and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the opportunities and friendships LUNA has given me. I am studying for an MA in Inclusive Education which ties in wonderfully with all things LUNA. Away from studies I am a massive bookworm and dog enthusiast who loves nothing more than being by the sea!

Anna Gallagher (she/her) – Hi! I’m Anna, I’m an FY1 Doctor. I am passionate about The LUNA Project because I think disability education is the best way to help people support their friends. Outside of LUNA I am a yearly volunteer in Lourdes, and I love my violin, comic books and musical theatre.

Anthony Collins (he/him) – Hi! I’m Anthony. I’m 18 and currently a first year at Glasgow University, studying Law and English Literature. In my free time I love comic books, writing, novels and drawing.

Beth Light (she/they) – Hi, I’m Beth, and I’m part of LUNA’s Education team. In my professional life I work for a disability charity, and I’m also a part-time student, studying online for a BSc in Health Sciences. I joined LUNA to share my passion for educating people about disability, and sharing my lived experiences of both disabled joy, but also ableism, to advocate for a more equitable society. In my free time, I enjoy crafts, computer games (mainly The Sims!) and playing with my dog Barney, who is also disabled!

Charlotte Miller –

Chloe Turner (she/her) – Hi, I’m Chloe! I’m studying for my PhD in English with Creative Writing at the University of York. I joined LUNA because I wanted to have more of a disabled community, and I’ve been having lots of fun on the Media team ever since. I’m a huge animal lover (you can normally find me making friends with the nearest cat!), I am obsessed with mythology, and I spend most of my time travelling.

Claire Robertson (she/her) – Hello, my name is Claire! I am an MSc Health Psychology graduate from St Andrews University. I am currently in the 2nd year of my health comics PhD at the University of Aberdeen. I specialised in Health Psychology so I can help promote positive health behaviours and support individuals who have a chronic illness or disability. In my current research, I am focusing on the understanding of, engagement with, and attitudes towards public health information – vital for increasing awareness and helping reduce stigma. When I am not studying, I enjoy playing golf, cycling, crocheting and going on walks with the dogs.

Dasa Novysedlakova (she/her) – Hello! I am currently a student of Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow. The greatest joy brings me exploring the outdoors – mountains and forests and coasts – be it through hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, or really any means that allow me to get lost in nature (figuratively, and due to my navigational skills quite often also literally). I enjoy board games, long conversations, and rash ideas.

Eilidh Murphy (she/her) – I’m Eilidh. I play and coach netball, and spend as much time as possible with my dogs. I’m passionate about mental health and helping others so when the opportunity to work with The LUNA Project was available I grabbed it with both hands!

Ellie Brownlie – I’m Ellie, I’m 21, and I’m originally from Moray in the North East of Scotland. I’m currently studying Psychology at the University of Glasgow. I have been open to speaking about my Dyslexia and Dyspraxia since being identified, and my identities had inspired me to study Psychology, but getting involved in LUNA has been an amazing opportunity to join with and help others. I love being part of such a passionate and enthusiastic team! When I’m not LUNA-ing, I love scouting, hiking, and sewing

Emma Rush (she/her)- Emma is a youth worker for MAP, a charity in Norfolk. She’s supported young people in a variety of ways, and currently coordinates projects that work within schools. I am autistic, with Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, Hashimoto’s, C-ptsd, NEAD, and BPD.

Katherine Hawkes (she/her) – Hi, I’m Katherine! I joined LUNA in 2021 while studying BSc Psychology at The University of York. Since graduating, I’ve been gaining experience as a support worker for individuals with mental health issues and learning difficulties. This work has shown me how someone’s care can become depersonalised, as if everyone is expected to have the same interests and to always be happy. I love that LUNA helps people feel accepted no matter how they experience the world.

Laura McCafferty – Hi, I’m Laura. I’m a third year medical student at the University of Glasgow. The LUNA Project gives me a chance to support other young people living with disabilities by helping to create a more supportive and understanding environment. I love walking my dog and cooking.

Maria Drelciuc (she/her) – Hi! I’m Maria, I’m a medical student at Uni of Glasgow. I joined LUNA in the autumn-winter of 2019 filled with enthusiasm and it’s fantastic to see how much LUNA has grown during this time and how the spirit of community and friendship is helping young people with disabilities to feel more empowered, and those without disabilities to be kinder and more compassionate. I am a hiking enthusiast and I love films and books to no end (same rule applies to dark chocolate digestives).

Stefanie Zych – Hi! I’m Stefanie (21 and from the US), and I’m excited to be a part of LUNA’s Resources group.
